In a world known as Earth, scarred by wars and many global trials, a land of many, there are those chosen few who are gifted with strange and unnatural powers. Whether achieved through scientific processes, genome mutations, or maybe just extreme training, they exist on Earth, being to some "regular" humans the bane of existance, to others a blessing of untold heroism. How these select few use those powers is up to them.
A force is growing in the world, a force that will combat even the governments of many nations, aided by technology. A band of these powerful beings has put aside their differences and grudgingly joined forces for various purposes: mass destruction, selfish reasons, greed, vengeance. All those and more falling under one single word: evil. They are a growing threat to everyone.
As if that weren't disconcerting enough, there are rumors of a kind of organized crime faction using those with powers, starting a huge crime wave everywhere. What their details are and their objective is a complete mystery. The whisper of them is enough to force many police and army factions to lose sleep for nights. They are not merely a rumor though: they are very real, and ready to go public and make their big move.
But, there is light at the end of this dark tunnel. What few people still believe in high morals, justice, saving others, selflessness, and all other things that could be considered "good", are banding together as well. They are ready to combat as well, gathering their fores and preparing; whether it be donning a red, white, and blue outfit and weilding a gigantic shield or unleashing adamantium claws of fury from your knuckles, they are ready to, forgive the cliche, save the world.
And even so, there are some with these powers who would rather not get involved at all, those who seek peace and take no stand on politics, those who consider themselves Neutral in this fresh-brewing war. They just want to live. They don't mind using their powers to help them make a living, or whatever they want to do- as long as nobody bothers them. Many simply hide their powers hoping to keep them under control and in secret so that their "disease" will never be revealed to the world...
As if this were disconcerting enough, mysterious and unexplainable happenings have been occuring as well... but nobody knows anything. Someone disappearing there, whatever it may be, but most people try to ignore it. After all, if they acknowledge it, it will wriggle into their nightmares and never leave them alone.
